Google's ranking algorithm update from August 6th to the weekend?

Google ranking algorithm update from August 6 to the weekend ?, Maintenance Hosting Security and development of Wordpress

Since Friday morning, August 6, I have been seeing signals of a possible update to Google's ranking algorithm. This is a typical unconfirmed update to Google's search algorithm, with both discussions within the SEO community and automated tracking tools that detect fluctuations.

The last update we talked about was on July 29, which seemed to continue until August 1. It is possible that there were two or three updates during that time. It's unclear, as are most of these unconfirmed updates.

Community Discussions

Here are some of the discussions from the weekend on WebmasterWorld:

The number of page views per visitor has been divided by two today, this is obvious on my graphs!

Is it just my site or did Google lower the authority this morning? In my niche, sites with good authority and strong links have been pushed down...

sales have gone up to #*$! again, correlating with the Semrush sensor spike - again. It seems they change the results every other day, it's extremely frustrating

The updates they have been rolling out for the past 48-72 hours have been taking a toll on my website. Only high volume keywords have been targeted and pushed down in the SERPs (-50). There is no way to know if this is temporary or not. Some high authority sites were also affected, I'm not really convinced that these are the vitals of the web. A google chrome extension that has a high volume keyword in my niche is on the second page, outranking many websites. Pinterest and YouTube are back on the first page.

I doubt it will hold, I would have expected google to show some transparency and confirm what they are deploying. The ultra-authoritative sites are not affected, they continue to dominate all the keywords they want.

Something went down this weekend that affected all my high volume keywords. Big drop, -50 more or less in the rankings. The "funny" thing is that it only targeted the high volume keywords, all other keywords are about the same.

I think that SEO doesn't make sense now. For now, it is pure manipulation of search results by Google
